The Pacific Exotica Spora Amazonian Mushroom is renowned for its myriad medicinal properties, which have been revered by indigenous cultures for centuries and are now garnering attention from modern science. The strain known by various names like Amazon Strain, Amazonian Cubensis, and PES Amazonia is commonly referred to as PESA. There is some ambiguity regarding whether it is identical to the Amazon strain, as both exhibit similar yet distinct growth characteristics.

PESA is recognized for its exceptionally large fruiting bodies that develop rapidly. Cap sizes can exceed 15 centimeters in diameter, initially reddish-brown and maturing to a golden-brown hue with a convex shape during sporulation. The stems are yellowish-white and exhibit blue-green bruising when handled.

This strain owes its name, PESA (Pacifica Exotica Spora Amazonian), to its initial availability through the Pacifica Exotica Spora vendor. Historically, it was common to incorporate the name of the discovering company into the strain's name, though this practice has diminished.

While some debate persists, it's likely that PESA is a genetic variation isolated from the original Amazon strain. The Amazon Cubensis strain, believed to have been brought to the United States by Terence and Dennis McKenna in the 1970s after exploring the rainforests for psychedelics, has deep roots in indigenous spiritual and healing practices in South and Central America.
